E-invoice
Convert an XRechnung to PDF — free and without uploading
Choose the file, the invoice appears laid out, then “Save as PDF”. The PDF carries the file name, the time and the XML’s SHA-256 checksum, so it stays traceable which file it came from. Works for XRechnung in UBL and CII and for ZUGFeRD and Factur-X PDFs.
Free · no sign-up · no upload: the conversion runs in your browser.
Or paste XML
XML or PDF, up to 5 MB — or just drop a file here. No sign-up, no allowance to spend.
The view is built in your browser — the file is not uploaded for it. Only “Check” sends it to our API, which checks it in memory and then discards it.
No XRechnung at hand? Convert a sample invoice
One click shows the file right here — downloading is optional.
- ValidValid invoice (UBL)
Passes validation cleanly. A good starting point for your own mapping.
File ↓ - ValidValid invoice (CII)
The same invoice in the second permitted syntax, UN/CEFACT CII.
File ↓ - ValidValid invoice (ZUGFeRD PDF)
A hybrid of readable PDF and embedded CII invoice — produced by NormAPI generation, verified like every sample.
File ↓
- 1Choose an XRechnung (.xml) or a ZUGFeRD PDF, or drop it on the page.
- 2The invoice appears laid out to read.
- 3Choose “Save as PDF or print”, then “Save as PDF” in the print dialog — done.
What the PDF is good for — and what not
It is good for everything people do with an invoice: forward it for approval, send it to the tax adviser, put it in the paper file, compare a line with the delivery note.
It is not an e-invoice. What has to be kept is the e-invoice itself, the XML as it arrived; the PDF is an additional reading copy.
What the PDF contains
The whole invoice as the viewer shows it: header with invoice number, date, due date and Leitweg-ID, seller and buyer, every line, the VAT breakdown, the totals down to the amount due and the payment details, every field with its BT number.
Above it a header with the file name, the time of conversion and the original file’s SHA-256 checksum. If the invoice was checked first, the result is in the PDF too.
Why the checksum
The SHA-256 checksum is the file’s fingerprint: change a single character of the XML and the whole number changes. With it on the PDF you can always show which file it came from — whoever doubts it recomputes it for the archived XML and compares.
And the other way round: PDF to XRechnung?
An ordinary PDF cannot be turned into an XRechnung reliably: the data would first have to be read from the picture, and that is exactly where errors creep in. An XRechnung is built from structured data — from invoicing software, or through an API such as NormAPI’s.
What happens to your file
Reading and converting happen in your browser; the file does not leave your computer for it. Only when you choose “Check” does it go to our API, where it is checked in memory and then discarded.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an XRechnung to PDF?
Choose the file here, then “Save as PDF or print”, and “Save as PDF” in the browser’s print dialog. No sign-up, and the file is not uploaded.
How do I convert XML invoices to PDF?
If it is an e-invoice — XRechnung in UBL or CII — exactly like that: show it here and save it as PDF. Other XML files are not recognised as invoices.
Can a PDF be converted to XRechnung?
Not reliably: the data would first have to be read out of a picture. An XRechnung is built from structured data, from invoicing software or through an e-invoice API.
Is the PDF a valid e-invoice?
No. It is a reading copy. The e-invoice is the XML file; a ZUGFeRD PDF is an e-invoice only because of the XML it contains.
Do I still have to keep the XML?
Yes. What has to be kept is the e-invoice in the form it arrived in. You can file the PDF as well; the checksum on it ties it to the file.
Does this work for ZUGFeRD?
Yes. For a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF the embedded XML is read and printed as PDF — the data the recipient’s software processes.
Is my file uploaded?
No, not for the conversion: it happens in your browser. Only a check, if you choose one, sends the file to our API, which checks it in memory and discards it.
What does the conversion cost?
Nothing, with no sign-up and no limit.
